The EU blue card
The EU Blue Card is a form of residence introduced by Germany in order to implement the EU High-tech Talents Directive. Germany set the blue card regulation in Article 19A of the residence law.Because the application of the blue card is relatively simple, so it has been widely concerned by everyone.Just follow these five steps and you'll be on your way to a blue card.
1 identity of applicant
The blue card applicant must be a national of a third country outside the EU, but the applicant may apply for a blue card of an EU country in a third country outside the EU.
You can also apply for a blue card from another EU country already residing in one of the EU countries.
However, the Blue Card rules do not apply to foreigners who have refugee status in Germany, are declaring refugee status, or are holding tolerated residence.
2 Qualification and employment requirement
Blue Card applicants must have a diploma from a German university, or a foreign university recognized in Germany, or a foreign university equivalent to a German university degree.
Whether the college record of formal schooling that can confirm applicant place holds through the way of inquiry on the net is admitted by Germany, or whether the diploma that learns a major and the diploma of Germany are equivalent.
Blue card applicants must present a work contract at the time of application, and the contract must provide a certain amount of salary in order to apply for the EU blue card.
What is more important is that the job content stipulated in the contract must match the major of the blue card applicant.
An information engineering graduate, for example, who is offered a job contract in the alcohol trade, will be denied the job's compatibility with his major and may use that as a reason to deny his blue card application.
3 Salary Requirements
In 2019, the salary that can apply for a blue card is 53,600 euros per year.
However, for some majors in short supply, such as mathematicians, natural scientists, engineers, doctors (but not dentists) and IT professionals, the annual salary for those who can apply for the blue card will be reduced to 41,808 euros.
If the fixed salary stipulated in the labor contract does not meet the salary standard for applying for the blue card, but some fixed bonus subsidies are also stipulated in the contract, then these fixed bonus subsidies can be counted into the fixed salary.
As long as these add up to the criteria for applying for a blue card, the employee is entitled to apply for a blue card.
4 Language Requirements
Blue Card applicants are not required to show proof of their German language proficiency at the time of application.
German immigration authorities also do not consider the applicant's German language proficiency when reviewing blue card applications.
Blue Card holders will be granted a permanent residence permit in Germany if they have worked for their employer for 33 months, contributed to their pension insurance in accordance with German labor law for 33 months, and have a source of income.
However, if the Blue Card holder has passed the German language test and obtained the B1 certificate, the residence period will be reduced to 21 months.
